Software Updates and Hotfixes

#1: Autodesk River and Flood Analysis Module 2018

River and Flood Analysis Module for AutoCAD Civil 3D 2018

The Autodesk River & Flood Analysis Module is a sophisticated river modeling software package that supported HEC-RAS within the Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D environment. The Autodesk River & Flood Analysis module makes it easier than ever before to compute water surface profiles for modeling rivers, bridges, culverts, spillways, levees, floodplain and floodway delineations, stream diversions, channel improvements, and split flows.

Key Features:

  • Automate HEC-RAS cross-section cutting, water surface analysis, floodplain mapping, and all related modeling tasks
  • Utilize numerous automation mapping tools for extracting cross sections from various digital terrain sources including contours, TINs, DTMs, DEMs, LiDAR data, survey files, surveyed cross sections, etc.
  • Perform sophisticated bridge and culvert analysis as well as automating the process of designing and analyzing roadway crossings
  • Automate mapping of bank station locations, channel and overland flow lengths, levee locations, ineffective flow areas, Manning’s roughness data from topographic map data
  • Perform automated bridge scour computations for FHWA and state DOT roadway studies
  • Automatically generate floodplain and floodway maps, ready for FEMA and other agency submittals

#2: AutoCAD 2018.1.1 Update (Service Pack)

AutoCAD 2018.1.1 Update

This update includes several new features and feature enhancements including:

  • Xref layer property enhancements: To provide more flexibility for controlling Xref overrides, the Layer Settings dialog box, which is accessed from the Layer Properties Manager, includes new controls for managing Xref layer properties.
  • Views and viewports: You can now easily create, retrieve, and place model views together with automatically sized and scaled layout viewports onto the current layout.
  • High resolution (4K) monitor support: More than 200 dialog boxes and other User Interface elements have been updated to ensure a quality viewing experience on high resolution (4K) displays.
  • 3D graphics performance: The 3D graphics performance for the Wireframe, Realistic, and Shaded visual styles continues to increase depending on the content of the DWG files tested.

See the README for more info. Use the Autodesk Desktop App to download and install these updates.

Don’t forget: AutoCAD Updates can be applied to AutoCAD installed as a standalone application and AutoCAD-based vertical products (e.g. Civil 3D, Map 3D, etc.).

#3: AutoCAD Map 3D 2018.0.1 Update (Service Pack)

Map 3D 2018.0.1 Update

This update resolves issues present in prior releases including:

  • In Electric Explorer, the Select Feature from Map option now works for structure features
  • New devices are now automatically related to the selected structure point
  • When you digitize multiple points at the same location, whether an internal structure is automatically generated now depends on the field value that you set in the database table.
Note: To turn on this function, access the TB_info table, add one record, set Param to ALLOW_DUPLICATE_DEVICE, and Value_numer to 1. To turn off this function, set Value_numer to 0.
  • The Split Cable operation now associates the correct devices to the split cables
  • BulkCopy no longer fails if the source layer contains a join
  • Stretching a vertex no longer causes other vertices to be moved together
  • ANSI31 hatch now exports with correct scaling and orientation
  • Map 3D no longer crashes when connecting to some corrupted *.SHP files
  • AutoCAD VBA module now works with Map 3D 2018
  • Map 3D no longer takes a long time to update or delete features from templates in large, job-enabled databases
  • The Generate Graphic operation no longer increases memory usage

See the README for more info. Use the Autodesk Desktop App to download and install these updates.

#4: AutoCAD Electrical 2018.1 Update (Service Pack)

This update features support for high resolution (4K) monitors. More AutoCAD Electrical User Interface elements are now optimized for high resolution monitors. As a result, the following dialog boxes now scale correctly when you increase the text size in your Windows Display Properties after patching this update:

  • PLC Parametric Selection dialogs
  • PLC Database File Editor dialogs
  • Insert/Edit Terminal Symbol dialogs
  • Terminal Strip Editor dialogs
  • Set Wire type dialog

#5: Revit 2018.1.1 Hotfix

Revit 2018.1.1 Hotfix

This update resolves issues present in prior releases including:

  • Issues and crashes reported directly to Autodesk
  • Fixes included in the Revit 2018.0.1 and 2018.0.2 Hot Fixes as well as the Revit 2018.1 Update

With this install, the following will be updated: Revit 2018, Collaboration for Revit 2018, and Dynamo. The updated version of the Dynamo Revit add-in does not include a desktop shortcut and can be accessed from the Visual Programming panel found on the Manage ribbon tab. If multiple versions of the Dynamo Revit add-in are installed, a dialog will prompt you to select which version to launch.

After this hotfix is applied, there will be two versions of Dynamo Core installed, and

See README for more info. Use the Autodesk Desktop App to download and install these updates.

#6: Revit 2017.2.2 Update

Revit 2017.2.2 Update

This update resolves issues present in prior releases including:

  • An update to the FBX SDK
  • A number of security improvements related to processing FBX, DAE, 3DS, and DXF format files

Also in this update: This update installs the Dynamo Revit Add-in for Revit 2017, which does not include a desktop shortcut. Instead, the Dynamo Revit add-in is accessed from the Visual Programming panel found on the Manage tab of the ribbon. If multiple versions of the Dynamo Revit add-in are installed, a dialog will prompt you to select which version to launch.

See README for more info. Use the Autodesk Desktop App to download and install these updates.

#7: Structural Precast for Revit 2018

Structural Precast for Revit 2018

New features available in this extension include:

  • Configure the segmentation, reinforcement, shop drawings and CAM export parameters for the relevant element types used in the project
  • Segment the elements and automatically fit with connectors, lifters, and bushings for all elements of the same type at once (e.g all solid walls, all hollow-core slabs or all solid slabs).
  • Reinforce the elements automatically per element type
  • Automatically add other embedded parts in the precast assemblies for all supported elements and supported embeds Revit categories (e.g. family instances, conduits)
  • Better coordinate or link precast model with other disciplines using Revit such as MEP and architecture
  • Automatically create the shop drawings based on company standards for all elements at once, all elements per submittal, or per element
  • Make assembly changes and update the shop drawings
  • Automatically create the CAM files for all elements at once, in one or more of the available formats: Unitecehnik 5.2, Unitechnik 6.0 and PXML 1.3
  • Export the Revit model to Navisworks Manage and BIM 360 Team for construction coordination, planning, and execution

See README for more info. Use the Autodesk Desktop App to download and install these updates.

NOTE: Segmentation and parameters inside shop drawing are strictly related to the assignation of material to a precast element.

[Resolved Issue] Editing Civil 3D Pipe Networks in Storm and Sanitary Analysis

From Ron Couillard on the U.S. CAD blog: “One of my clients recently ran into an interesting issue when attempting to edit a pipe network in Storm and Sanitary Analysis. When we selected a pipe network element and selected Edit in Storm and Sanitary Analysis in the contextual ribbon, Storm and Sanitary Analysis should open and import the selected pipe network. However, we have noticed that Storm and Sanitary Analysis will open, but no data will be brought in.”
