Infrastructure Universe, Vol. 6: New Releases from Autodesk & What the Experts Have to Say about Them

Don’t panic; all the 2018 versions of software have been released! As my boss told me, “Patience, Padawan.” I was eagerly trying to download the new release, refreshing every minute last Thursday (I do this for you guys ☺). After looking through the new releases, here are the things I think you need to know.

Did you notice I didn’t say InfraWorks “360”? Yeah, the “360” has been dropped from the name; it is now the artist known as just InfraWorks. Besides the name change, there are some new tools and things you need to look out for.

Visualizations of the Most Used AutoCAD, Revit, and 3ds Max Commands

With years of user behavior data collected by their Customer Involvement Program, the Autodesk research department compiled a database of over 60 million individual commands created by anonymized users. They have created visualizations all commands ordered by most to least frequently used in AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit and 3ds Max.

Leica Infrastructure Link for Civil 3D

This plugin connects Civil 3D with all Leica field equipment running Leica Captivate or Leica iCON build field software. You can extract alignments, corridors and surfaces from within Civil3D and transfer Points, Lines, Areas, DTMs, and Road Designs to the instrument to be used in the field.
